You will have 60 minutes in our rooms, we are asking all customers to arrive 10 minutes prior to their booking and we have about a 5 minutes debrief after the game. If you are playing one escape room you will need to allow up to 75 minutes for the whole experience.
Not only do each of our rooms have emergency exit procedures in place but at no point during the game will you be locked in with no way of exiting. Additionally, your game host will be able to see and hear you as you play, so for any reason if you need to leave they can assist you right away.
We have different types of experiences available to suit everyone. Our scary rooms consist of Nightmare and Cabin in the Woods. However, if you fancy something different Hostage and Candy Shop are not designed to be scary. Candy shop is a great option for a family friendly escape room experience.
We understand that this condition is unique to each person and if at any point during the game you feel uncomfortable you are welcome to leave the room. Our game hosts watch your experience from the offset and as they can hear and see you, they will be able to detect any distress and respond accordingly.
Each of our escape rooms have emergency exit procedures in place that will be outlined in your pre-game health and safety brief.
No, your escape room experience is with your own party and will not involve other players.
To ensure sufficient time is allocated to the pre-game brief, all teams should aim to arrive ten minutes before your experience is scheduled to begin. If you do arrive early we have a comfortable waiting area for you with drinks and snacks available to purchase.
You can cancel at any time, but bookings are non-refundable unless you added Booking Protection when you booked. With Booking Protection, you get a full refund if you cancel at least 1 hour before your game. The £9.99 Booking Protection fee and the £2 booking fee are not refunded. Without Booking Protection, we'll do our best to reschedule you instead (see "Can I RESCHEDULE My Booking?").
Each room is for a minimum of 2 players. Maximum numbers are:
- Candy Shop: 6
- Hostage: 6
- Cabin in the Woods: 6
- Nightmare: 6
For bigger groups, you can book two rooms at the same time and split into teams. Get in touch and we'll help you plan it.
No. Each Booking Protection covers one game. If you book 3 rooms and want all 3 covered, add it 3 times.
We only offer the discounts listed on our Promotions page.
We don't offer NHS, blue light, student or carer discounts or tickets.
Due to the range of experiences we have on offer each escape room have different limitations. For Candy Shop we set an age recommendation of 8+ and for Hostage, we suggest players be 10+ years of age.
Additionally, Cabin in the Woods has a recommended age of 12+ and for Nightmare is 16+. Players aged 12 to 15 can play a version without the live actor, as long as an adult plays in the room with them.

If you have not yet received your confirmation email be sure to check your junk mail. If you are still unable to locate it, please email us info@blackoutgames.co.uk and we will be happy to send you another.
You can pay in full when you make your booking.
Alternatively, you can secure your experience with a £40 deposit on our website, with the remaining balance payable on arrival.
Deposits are non-refundable unless you added Booking Protection.
If you reschedule, your deposit moves to your new booking, and the normal rescheduling fees apply (see "Can I RESCHEDULE My Booking?").
Our Candy shop experience is completely wheelchair accessible. However, we apologise, but due to space restrictions and physical requirements, all our other three rooms are not wheelchair friendly.
Yes, we have a selection of drinks and confectionary snacks available to purchase in our reception area.
No, before your game begins all phones must be locked away in the lockers provided. This is to prevent any recordings within our rooms as we like to keep our secrets a secret
All members of the public are welcome to play our games. It should be noted that some of our experiences include crawling, however, none of our rooms involve strenuous physical activities. Ultimately it would be your choice to participate dependent on your skillset and condition.
Yes, subject to availability.
- More than 48 hours before your game: your first reschedule is free. Each one after that costs £5.
- Less than 48 hours before your game: to cover staff costs, any reschedule costs £20 if your game is on a weekday and £40 if it's on a weekend.
- With Booking Protection: reschedule as many times as you like for free, up to 1 hour before your game.
An optional add-on for £9.99 per game. It gives you unlimited free reschedules or a full refund, up to 1 hour before your game. You can only add it when you book.
